UNIDO works to protect waste workers from harmful e-waste
UNIDO launches environmental sampling project
Under the WEEE Component of the UNIDO PCB-WEEE Project, the first Environmental Sampling started in the project sites of Brgy. Bagong Silang and Brgy. Camarin in Caloocan City and in a control site in the vicinity of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. This is part of a series of Environmental Monitoring activities for the MRF/TSD Facility for E-waste established in Brgy. Bagong Silang. Air, water and soil sampling for POPs (PBB and PBDE), bromine and heavy metals will be undertaken to measure the baseline conditions of the MRF/TSD Facility for E-waste, that will help address the high risk exposure of Informal Waste Workers and the environment to harmful chemicals in e-wastes and possible policy gaps on e-waste management.
