Mr. Gustavo Gonzalez meets with Ambassador Peter Kell and officials of the New Zealand embassy
Manila, 27 September 2022-- United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in the Philippines Gustavo Gonzalez met today with Ambassador Peter Kell, Aupito Sio, associate minister of foreign affairs, Sam Chittick, country representative of The Asia Foundation and other officials and representatives of the embassy of New Zealand in the Philippines.
Gonzalez discussed how the current cooperation framework of the UN and the Philippines--the Socioeconomic and Peacebuilding Framework for COVID-19 Recovery--aligns with priority areas for New Zealand, including agriculture, resilience, education, and indigenous peoples.
Gonzalez encourage New Zealand to contribute to UN joint programmes, and inter-agency initiatives. Potential areas for stronger collaboration include the establishment of two country-level MPTF for JP on Human Rights, and Conflict Transformation in BARMM; Philippines commitments on Transforming Education; Food Systems Summit recommendations; South-South Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) activities, such as digital skilling, and climate action and disaster risk management.
