UN Philippines assesses life-saving support for typhoon-affected families in Albay and Catanduanes

UN Philippines chief Gustavo Gonzalez leads mission
United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator Gustavo Gonzalez led a High-Level Visit to the provinces of Albay and Catanduanes in the Bicol Region on 27-30 January 2021 to assess the life-saving support extended by the UN Philippines to Filipinos affected by typhoons Rolly (Goni) and Ulysses (Vamco).
Mr. Gonzalez was joined by Ambassador Bjorn Staurset Jahnsen, Norway, Ambassador Peter MacArthur, Canada, and Elizabeth Zavalla, Philippine Red Cross Secretary General.
The UN-led mission visited communities where the UN has provided cash assistance, shelter repair kits and water and sanitation facilities through projects funded by the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and implemented by IOM, UNICEF and WFP.
