UNHCR Philippines donates PPE to the Bangsamoro government to boost regional COVID-19 containment efforts
UNHCR Philippines delivered 13,420 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and tarpaulins to the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) BARMM to support their response to the needs of forcibly displaced families during and beyond #COVID19.
“We [the BARMM alone] cannot address and face the challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic. We need the support of the donor communities…Their timely actions contributed a lot to our initiatives in containing the virus in the region,” BARMM Chief Minister Al Haj Murad’ Ebrahim emphasized. “We are not yet through with the challenges and still unclear when this catastrophe ends. Nobody really knows but we need to prepare for the future,” he added.
UNHCR is working closely with the government and other partner agencies in ensuring that protection remains at the core of humanitarian responses amid the challenges faced because of the #coronavirus pandemic.
